Welcome to the Home of SPHS Chemistry!
Welcome to the home of the Stony Point High School Science Department’s Chemistry home page. We know that parents and students want to be informed about the content, scope, and sequence of the courses that are offered in this exciting discipline of study. The Chemistry Team is devoted to maximize student performance using state of the art tools and techniques including the use of Information Technology. This website is designed to allow for ease of navigation and comprehensiveness of information.
To the left are the links to the homepage for each of the Chemistry related courses taught at Stony Point High School. The syllabi, notes, lesson plans, and activities are provided for each of the five courses. The courses are all threaded to provide a seamless academic experience for our students. All of the course work has been developed through a “backward design” approach to ensure that all activities are focused to promote and empower student success. This approach has been tested and analyzed over the past three years and the results have been astounding. Without focusing on any specific student subpopulation, this approach has dramatically reduced the achievement gap while continually improving the success of our most gifted students. All of this been accomplished while significantly increasing the rigor of each of the courses.
